WWJD?

In other words, What Would JasonMrazzz Do?

The Ukulele World Congress is coming up in a few weeks. For those of us flying to the party, we have to make the very difficult choice of which ukulele to bring along. I know it's not exactly "Sophie's Choice", but this decision has been plaguing me for the past few months. I'd like to bring my beater Fluke because there's a good chance I'll be losing it in the fields again. However, I'd also like to bring one of my Mainland ukes that have the built-in pickup so I can plug-in onstage for the open mic sessions. Thirdly, I'd like to bring the U-bass so UCB can get all full bandy on these mofos.  What to do, what to do?

You know how airlines are these days, they want to charge you for every single thing you bring on the plane: check-in baggage, carry-on baggage, oversized hats, bad attitudes, etc. It's gotten so ridiculous. Last year, I brought a biggish backpack and my Fluke so i didn't check-in any luggage.  That worked out fine AND I only wore half the stuff I brought (I guess bringing a button down shirt, necktie, and dress shoes to a party in the woods wasn't necessary.  Go figure.).  That means this year I can pack less clothes and mayyybe stuff a second uke into my backpack.  Or maybe I don't need a change of clothes at all.  I'll just triple up on the deodorant.

So what are you guys bringing?  (Other than your A-game)

I will be bringing my thirst for knowledge, my love of nature, and my faith in the Lord....

....either that or a change of clothes and a half gallon of cheap Vodka.

Note that the TSA allows and instrument AND two carry-ons However, each airline has their own rules. Worth a phone-call to see if you can carry two ukes and a bag on the plane.

- Plug-in Flea
- Plastic uke
- Mainland mango concert
- Otamatone

The rest is superfluous.

pants are superfluous.

Being superfluous is pants.

Russ, bring the Fluke since it is party friendly, if you need a uke with a pickup you can use mine. I don't have a Ubass, but I do have an acoustic bass guitar with pick-ups in it that I'll bring if you want to use it. I guess what I'm saying is let the people who are driving bring crap for you so you don't have to lug a bunch of stuff through the airport. I don't recall any shortage of intruments to play last year...

@ Boozelele: forget the change of clothes and bring a whole gallon of vodka.

@ Uki: This is not OWC. :-)

I'm bringing the Mahalo soprano. We can mic up, right? I don't really care though, I'm coming to see all the greats play.

@DeG: thanks man! if you can bring a bass, that would be most awesome of you.

@John: yes, you can back dat azz up and mic up.

Whatever you take to play, to drink, to wear, I just hope you all have a great time. I know you will!

I think I'll just bring the Argapa soprano and à small contact pickup. I might bring a toothbrush, but if there's enough vodka to go around I might just bring snus to keep my mouth fresh. Is everybody on the pills or do I need to bring rubbers?

Boozelele said...

Russelle is fixed, so you wont need rubbers.

I have no fucking clue what to bring. Some lute thing. Some uke thing. Dats dat.

Funny that we're so similar. I also thought about putting a second uke into my backpack. But I'm not sure if it will survive the rough treatment by the airport's luggage transport system... what do you think?

Boozelele said...

A checked bag always cost extra now. I am going to get by with a carry on, and a uke.

I'm not flying, so if there's anything I can haul for yall- lemme know. I'm bringing an air mattress just in case... should I bring some extra blankets & pillows? You guys were at this cabin last year- is it all stocked?
